Updates 2011/2012
2011 was a very productive year for my art, teaching and writing. Shown here are some examples of my new works on paper in oil, encaustic and collage mediums. I’ve recently exhibited my work at the Wistariahurst Museum and the PCS 80 gallery in Holyoke as well as in group shows in New York, Milwaukee, Boston and Chicago.
I continue to teach courses in painting, printmaking and drawing, using exercises from my Art from Intuition book, at Mass College of Art, Montserrat College of Art and Holyoke Community College. I’ve also been teaching workshops at the Concord Art Association, Newton Art Association, Springfield Libraries and Franklin H.S. Arts Academy.
I received the high honor of Distinguished Alumnus in the Arts and Humanities from the University of Wisconsin at their convocation/graduation ceremonies this May.
My book, Art from Intuition is in its 4th printing with praise from other arts authors such as Shaun McNiff, Peter London and Ted Orland.
I’m starting work on my next book, Making Abstract Art, that will be published by Random House for the spring of 2012
Looking forward to 2012, I’ll soon be announcing classes in drawing, painting and monotype that I’ll offer out of my studio this spring in addition to teaching painting at Holyoke Community College and intensive, 5-day courses this summer at the Montserrat College of Art in Beverly, Mass http://www.montserrat.edu/continuing-ed/summer_immersive_workshops.php and at “Art New England ” in July.
I love this book! Being free to roam the book and try new techniques as one is inspired is great! I’m pretty much a beginning painter, I love to sketch, but I’m a bit fearful of painting boldly.
This book is opening me up! I passed the book around my arts group and everyone wants one. Thank you!
