This is the Spring 2013 schedule for Dean Nimmer’s workshops that take place at the Gateway City Arts building at 92 Race Street, Holyoke, MA

1. “Drawing Into Print” Monotype Workshop – Sunday, Feb 10 (snow date Feb 17) – 11am to 3pm.
In this workshop we will create monotypes that combine drawing and
painting in the print.

2. “Art By Accident” – Sunday, March 3 (snow date March 10) 11am to 3pm
Risk-taking and chance are the key players directing your drawing and
painting compositions that will artistically answer the Clint Eastwood
question – “Are ya feeling lucky today?”

3. “Realism and Abstraction – The Odd Bedfellows”  – Sunday, March 24 – 11am to 5pm
This special 6-hour workshop focuses on the commonalities and
contrasts between drawing subject matter realistically and abstractly.
Team-taught by myself and realist artist, Paul Leveille, we will teach
the group hands-on techniques for drawing in each art form.

4. “Stop Whining and Draw!” – Sunday, April 7 – 11am to 3pm.
This is a non-stop, no time to think or whine, drawing session that
emphasizes passion, process and pleasure over fussy picture making.

5. “Art from Intuition Workshop” -– Sunday, May 5 – 11am to 3pm
Based on the book of the same name, this fun and energetic workshop
shows how to remove obstacles that block creativity in order to free
your passionate artistic spirit.

6. “Art of the Absurd” – Sunday, May 19 – 11am to 3pm
Working with absurdity consultant, Unique Fredrique, we will play by
making irreverent cartoons, salacious caricatures and making “bad art”
intentionally – but sometimes it’s fun to be bad!

All 4-hour workshops are $100 per session taken separately. A spring
season pass that covers admission to all of the 4-hour workshops is
$250. The special 6-hour Realism and Abstraction workshop is $200, and
it is not included in the season pass offer.

list of materials beyond those provided in an email a week prior to
