2015 Workshops and Information

Dean Nimmer Fall 2015 Workshop Schedule:

This is a new group of art workshops I’m teaching at Gateway City Arts this fall that help develop your imagination, spontaneity and skills bringing more pleasure to making art no matter what level of experience you have. There are several new workshops as well as some of the most popular ones I’ve taught before.

All of the workshops are $100 per person, per session if taken separately. A Fall Season Pass that covers admission to all 6 workshops is 50% off at $300. But Wait! (as seen on TV)

*Any student currently enrolled in art classes at any college in the U.S. may take any workshop for $50 or the 6-class series for $250.

To reserve a place in an individual workshop or make a deposit on a season pass, please send a $50 deposit check to: Dean Nimmer 146 Allyn St, Holyoke, MA 01040.

All workshops take place at the Gateway City Arts building at 92 Race Street, Holyoke, MA 01040.

FALL WORKSHOPS:

Sunday, Oct 1811am to 3pmOffbeat Off-press Monotypes

Sunday, Nov 111am to 3pmArt with Your Eyes Closed

Spontaneous drawing and painting without planning or controlling the outcomes. Trust your intuition and make art with no hang-ups stopping the fun! Basic materials supplied, nothing to buy.

Sunday, Nov 2211am to 3pmBanishing Dull, Dumb, Boring Art!

If you are unsatisfied that your artworks are too typical, safe or just the standard traditional boring same old, then this class will show you several techniques and strategies to add more excitement and pizazz to your compositions, that are fun and easy to do. So leave your comfort zone and reboot your creative spark for the better!

Sunday, Nov 29 11am to 3pmDrawing Marathon!

This will be a 4-hour, non-stop, no time to think or take a break, drawing session that emphasizes passion, process and pleasure over fussy, analytical picture making. This marathon session will explore a variety of different techniques, subjects and mixed media combinations. We will create to upbeat music and draw ‘til we drop!

Sunday, Dec 611am to 3pm Art Open Studio

This workshop provides an open studio environment for participants to bring in one or more art project – drawing, painting, collage, print or sculpture – and work on it with the guidance of Dean Nimmer for the 4-hour session. This class is open to all levels of experience and there’s no restrictions or requirements for the type of art you make.

You may bring your own supplies, but all needed drawing, paint and paper supplies are provided free of charge.
